Auston Matthews uses a sliding pull-back drag release built on a few precise mechanics. His top hand (right) pulls into his body while hinging up, over, and out — creating the space and leverage needed for the release. His bottom hand provides the compression and direction: flex and aim. Every detail has intention, and when they sync, it becomes one of the most deceptive releases in hockey. Auston Matthews is one of my favorite players to watch in the NHL.
