Backhand Forehand đ„
One of my go-to breakaway movesâright up there with the backhand deke. Most players do the motion, but they donât actually read the goalie or understand what theyâre selling.
On this setup, Iâm watching one thing: which leg the goalie is anchoring on. As a lefty, if I see him leaning heavier on his right leg, thatâs my cue. Once he anchors, you can manipulate himâpull him one way, snap it back the other.
The small horizontal backhand shifts are mini-dekes to open up that low blocker spot just over the pad. The vertical shifts are pump fakes to freeze the goalie and keep your momentum. Bigger fakes are used to drag him completely out of position so you can T-stop or jab-stop and cut back clean.
Most players can do the moveâŠ
But the real secret is the sell.
Sell the fake, read the anchor, and youâll score every time. Check Connor bedards latest
